V1-M DAW Controller – Basic Testing, Setup & Encoder Functions

This article outlines the built-in diagnostic and configuration modes available on the iCON V1-M DAW controller. These functions are accessed by pressing specific encoders during power-on and are useful for testing, calibration, and system setup.
Basic Testing & Configuration Modes
Fader Calibration
To enter fader calibration mode:
Press encoder 1, then power on the device.
Encoders 1–8 adjust the calibration values for faders 1–8.
For the Master Fader (channel 9):
- Press the REC button on track 8 to increase the value
- Press the SOLO button on track 8 to decrease the value
The default calibration value is 85.
- If the fader moves slowly or lacks force, increase the value to 88 or 90
- If the fader shakes, reduce the value to 83, 82, or 80
- Do not exceed a value of 92
Press encoder 8 to save the settings.
LCD Backlight Adjustment
Press encoder 2, then power on the device.
This mode allows adjustment of LCD backlight brightness:
- LCD1 controls the top display
- LCD2 controls the lower display
Default value: 65
Minimum: 25
Maximum: 90
Press encoder 8 to save the settings.
LED and Display Test
Press encoder 3, then power on the device.
This mode tests button LEDs, meter LEDs, character displays, and numeric displays.
System Selection
Press encoder 4, then power on the device.
Use the encoders to select the desired system mode.
The device will automatically save and exit after selection.
LCD Test
Press encoder 5, then power on the device.
This mode runs a full LCD screen test.
Fader Aging Test
Press encoder 6, then power on the device.
This mode activates continuous fader movement to test motor durability.
Encoders 7 & 8
Currently not assigned to specific test functions.
Note: Encoder 8 may be used to save parameters in certain modes.
Factory Reset
To reset the device to factory settings:
Press and hold encoders 2 and 3, then power on the device.
Jog Wheel Functions
Jog Wheel Lock & Sensitivity
The jog wheel can be locked and its sensitivity adjusted.

Navi and Focus Buttons
Located around the jog wheel:
- Navi (top left corner): Functions like arrow keys on a keyboard
- Focus (top right corner): Used to toggle jog wheel lock and activate focus mode
