ICON Pro Audio P1-M & Sound Devices 8-Series: Enhanced Control for Your Recorder
Using the Icon P1-M with Sound Devices 8-Series Recorders
The Icon Pro Audio P1-M is designed to integrate seamlessly with your Sound Devices 8-Series recorders (Scorpio, 888, 833), providing hands-on, tactile control over channel levels, solo/mute states, and other mixer functions. This guide walks you through the complete setup process—from configuring firmware and mappings to switching control modes.

- P1-M Firmware: Version 1.10 or higher
- iMAP Software: Version 1.17 or higher
- Sound Devices Firmware: v10.11 or later is recommended for automatic folder creation

- Scroll down to Downloads, and install the correct version of iMAP for your operating system.

- Now launch iMAP.
Step 3: Load the Sound Devices Preset

- Right-click anywhere in the left panel and choose “Reset to Factory Default.”
- From the DAW dropdown on the right, select “Sound Devices.”
- Switch to the BUTTON FUNCTIONS tab. You can optionally edit the layout here, but the preset provides ideal defaults for the 8-Series workflow.
Optional: Customize Touch Display with Sound Devices Preset
Sound Devices has created a custom iMAP configuration and 8-Series controller mapping file that enhances the touch display for common tasks like track arming, solo/mute, and more.
Step 1: Load Preset into Your 8-Series Recorder
- Download the P1-M Controller Mapping File from sounddevices.com.
Copy the file into the
MIDI_MAPPING
