FAQ: What is the correct startup sequence for my iCON controller?
(This article applies to the V1-M, V1-X, P1-M, P1-X and the P1-Nano)
iCON’s new series of controllers are unlike any other general midi controllers that you may have configured with your DAW before.
The new iMAP software provides real time drag and drop changes to the programmable touchscreen on the controller. The iMAP software needs constant communication with the controller to function correctly.
The correct start up sequence for the above mentioned controllers is of critical importance. If the correct start up sequence is not followed, the controller will not function correctly with your DAW.
The correct start up sequence is as follows;
- Power on the Controller
- Open the iMAP software
- Open the DAW
The startup sequence is important because the correct MIDI ports need to be occupied by the Controller and the iMAP software.
The controller will occupy the first 3 MIDI ports on your computer
The iMAP software will always occupy MIDI port 4 if the correct start-up sequence is followed.
- MIDI IN/OUT 1 (or ‘Port 1’) - configure with DAW 1
- MIDI IN/OUT 2 (or 'Port 2’) - configure with DAW 2
- MIDI IN/OUT 3 (or ‘Port 3’) - Configure with DAW 3
- MIDI IN/OUT 4 (or ‘Port 4’) - iMAP software (do NOT use)
